Steering Group
At Lealholm Primary School, we believe that every child’s voice matters. Our Steering Group is a group of elected pupils who represent their peers and help to make important decisions about school life.
Our Steering Group for 2024-2025

What is the Steering Group?
The Steering Group is made up of representatives from each class who are chosen through a democratic vote. They meet regularly to discuss ideas, share concerns and work on projects that improve our school for everyone.
What Does the Steering Group Do?
Our Steering Group members take on a variety of responsibilities, including:
-
listening to the ideas and opinions of their peers and sharing them in meetings.
-
working with teachers and school leaders to suggest improvements.
-
organising events and fundraising activities.
-
promoting positive changes in areas such as the environment, well-being, and school facilities.
-
encouraging all pupils to have a say in their school community.
Healthy Schools Team
This year, our Steering Group also form our Healthy Schools Team, working towards improving health and well-being across the school. They will play an important role in gathering evidence against our action plan to help us achieve the Gold Award. This includes promoting healthy eating, physical activity, and mental well-being, ensuring that our school is a happy and healthy place for everyone.
Why is the Steering Group Important?
The Steering Group helps children develop important skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. It also ensures that every pupil has a chance to contribute to decisions that affect them, fostering a sense of responsibility and belonging in our school.
We are proud of our Steering Group and the positive impact they have on making Lealholm an even better place to learn and grow!
