Staff Wellbeing

At Lealholm Primary School, we recognise that children flourish when the adults around them are flourishing. The wellbeing of our staff is therefore a key priority. We are committed to creating a positive, supportive and respectful working environment where all staff feel valued, listened to and empowered to achieve a healthy work-life balance. We promote staff wellbeing through:
  • A supportive and compassionate approach to leadership, where staff are encouraged to seek help, share concerns and access support when needed.
  • A Headteacher who continues to plan and teach alongside staff and therefore understands the day-to-day realities, challenges and demands of classroom practice.
  • An open-door policy, enabling staff to discuss concerns, workload, wellbeing or professional matters at any time.
  • Flexible professional development opportunities that encourage self-directed study, allowing staff to pursue areas of professional interest and development that are most relevant to their role and career aspirations.
  • Dedicated wellbeing days, recognising the importance of rest, recuperation and personal wellbeing.
  • A recognition that family comes first, with staff supported to attend important family events and milestones whenever possible.
  • A culture of trust and mutual respect, where staff contributions are recognised and successes are celebrated.
  • Regular opportunities for collaboration, professional dialogue and peer support.
By prioritising staff wellbeing, we aim to foster a positive school culture in which staff feel happy, supported and able to thrive professionally and personally, ultimately benefiting the children and families we serve.
